  Friday, June 21st, 7 pm.  POTLUCK! We’re combining our “regular” meeting and our “social gathering” this time, at a member's home, not far from Westgate and Stassney. We’re planning to not work TOO hard, but to consider what we want our Climate Education classes (3^rd Sundays) to be like, and plan farther ahead for Fall.  We’ll play two climate-change videos,  with emphasis on exciting solutions. WILDEARTH CLIMATE ACTION TEAM MEETING, FRIDAY, MAY 19, 7 PM

WildEarth Climate Action Team will hold its regular meeting this Friday, 7 pm, at a member's home, not far from Westgate and Stassney. Next month, we will likely return to our usual pattern of second-Thursday meetings.  One of our agenda items will be to try to plan several months ahead for our Climate Mythbusters class, so we can advertise it more widely, with some content-specific description. WILDEARTH CLIMATE ACTION TEAM UPCOMING 4/13 MEETING, AND NEWS

•  In addition, the team’s Adult RE class—Climate Education—will kick off a new series called “CLIMATE MYTHBUSTERS,”  focusing on effective communication:  demystifying climate science, and countering climate change denial.  This class meets  SUNDAY APRIL 16^th, 9:30-10:15 am, and continues every third Sunday.          WildEarth members are also involved in helping create these events in Austin as Earth Day and the Climate March approach:  350 Austin’s next General Meeting, will highlight Artful Activism spearheaded by Martha Carleton, Wed. April 18th at Scholz Garden. 

• The AUSTIN PEOPLE’S CLIMATE MARCH is Saturday, April 29^th, 1pm at the State Capitol. This will happen one week after Earth Day (April 22 at Huston-Tillotson University) and the Science March (also 4/22).  Susan Lippman is helping create a series of events for “CLIMATE JUSTICE WEEK”, April 23-28^th, to keep the energy going until the Climate March on the 29th!

   

Nonviolent Direct Action & Civil Disobedience Training

    Learn about nonviolent direct action and civil disobedience for protests and strategic campaigns, primarily for activists of beginner and intermediary experience levels). The training will focus on how to plan and execute safe, effective, and strategic non-violent direct actions. This training is not just for people willing to risk arrest; there are many  important support roles when taking action, so we hope you will come even if you are unwilling to risk arrest in a civil disobedience action This training is being organized by activists with 350-Austin, Austin Environmental Justice Team (ATXEJ), Texas Drought Project, Texas Climate Action, WildEarth Climate Action Team (Wildflower Church), and more. We are motivated by a goal of growing our community networks and capacities to take action for defending our city, state, communities/neighbors, with strength and solidarity. A $10 donation is requested to help cover our costs, though no one will be turned away for lack of funds. The size of the training will need to be a minimum of 20 persons up to a maximum of 50. Climate Change Class Sun. 3/19 9:30am

        Wildflower Church’s WildEarth Climate Action Team has just begun a series of monthly classes on Climate Change Education.  The second class in this series is this Sunday at 9:30 a.m. in the Faith Presbyterian Church Parlor (where Food for Thought classes are held on first and third Sundays).  This class begins with a 50-minute episode, "Gathering Storm," of the acclaimed climate series, “Years of Living Dangerously,” with actor Jack Black speaking to Miami Mayors about saving Miami, and well-known vampire Ian Somerhalder learning about storms of the future.  These two links give previews to this episode (Season 2, Episode 2):
