Nonviolent Direct Action & Civil Disobedience Training

    Learn about nonviolent direct action and civil disobedience for protests and strategic campaigns, primarily for activists of beginner and intermediary experience levels). The training will focus on how to plan and execute safe, effective, and strategic non-violent direct actions. This training is not just for people willing to risk arrest; there are many  important support roles when taking action, so we hope you will come even if you are unwilling to risk arrest in a civil disobedience action This training is being organized by activists with 350-Austin, Austin Environmental Justice Team (ATXEJ), Texas Drought Project, Texas Climate Action, WildEarth Climate Action Team (Wildflower Church), and more. We are motivated by a goal of growing our community networks and capacities to take action for defending our city, state, communities/neighbors, with strength and solidarity. A $10 donation is requested to help cover our costs, though no one will be turned away for lack of funds. The size of the training will need to be a minimum of 20 persons up to a maximum of 50. Climate Change Class Sun. 3/19 9:30am


        Wildflower Church’s WildEarth Climate Action Team has just begun a series of monthly classes on Climate Change Education.  The second class in this series is this Sunday at 9:30 a.m. in the Faith Presbyterian Church Parlor (where Food for Thought classes are held on first and third Sundays).  This class begins with a 50-minute episode, "Gathering Storm," of the acclaimed climate series, “Years of Living Dangerously,” with actor Jack Black speaking to Miami Mayors about saving Miami, and well-known vampire Ian Somerhalder learning about storms of the future.  These two links give previews to this episode (Season 2, Episode 2):

        Climate team members will then lead a discussion about positive responses to the challenge of climate change.

WildEarth Climate Action Team meeting, Thurs. Mar. 9, 2017

The Climate Action Team will meet this Thursday, March 9, 7-9 pm, at a member’s home in the Circle C area.
